We're a Mix of Emotions

Every adventure begins with charting a course, and today we’d like to share our roadmap for the next phase of El Cosmico.

Some of you have asked to have a chance for one last stay at OG property, and we’re here for it. To that end, we’re letting you know that the current El Cosmico will close on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. From now until then, we’ll be here to host you, wax poetic about all the good times we’ve had, and help make a few last new memories at our beloved home for the past 15+ years. 

We’ve got all kinds of feelings about it – some sadness about the end of an era, wistful nostalgia about all the magical times we’ve had on this land, and a big dose of excitement about what awaits at the new El Cosmico that is scheduled to open in 2027 on a stunning 60-acre patch of land on the edge of Marfa – a stone’s throw from our current home. We can’t wait to share what we’re building with you. 

For guests with existing reservations after July 1, you have a message from us in your inbox about cancellations, refunds and next steps related to the closure along with a special invitation just for you to the new property when it opens. We can’t wait to welcome you to our new home. 

In the meantime, the Brite Building – El Cosmico’s stately sister apartment in the heart of downtown Marfa – remains available for booking.  El Cosmico Provision Co., our beloved lobby shop, will also close on Tuesday, July 1. Items from our lobby shop and other goods will continue to be available 24/7 at farwestcollective.com. 

As for the opening of the new El Cosmico, we will keep you all up to speed via email about the opening dates and related festivities (we love a reason to party, as you know). If you aren’t already subscribed to our mailing list, you can do that here. 

Thank you from the depths of our collective heart for being a part of this little experiment in freedom and fun we’ve been conducting out here under the big sky. As Yoko Ono said, “A dream you dream alone is only a dream, a dream you dream together is reality“. Thank you for dreaming with us, and please accept an open invitation to keep on dreaming into the future with us. We look forward to welcoming you to the new property.
