See You Mañana

Every adventure contains within it the elements of a hero’s journey: beginnings,  endings and the wild, beautiful stuff  in between. The road between those phases and stages is, in our experience, a winding and cosmic one that offers the magic of surprise, the tenderness of loss and change, and the breathless excitement of new horizons in equal parts. In the best of all worlds, a new adventure arises from the old, and the cycle begins again. We see this represented as the infinity symbol, the ouroboros, the endless knot.

In keeping with this cosmic cycle, the original El Cosmico is now closed. We’ve got all kinds of feelings about it – some sadness about the end of an era, wistful nostalgia about all the memories we’ve made together on this land, and a big dose of excitement about what could be.

We see this closure as a temporary stop along the road, not a destination.

We’ve been working hard on envisioning the next chapter, scratching our ideas into the dirt and kicking around the possibilities. Like any great tale, there have been plot twists. We thought we new where we were headed. We charted a course and turned our gaze towards a tomorrow that, it turns out, isn’t where we’re headed after all.

It turns out that the mañanifesto holds truer than ever:

Mañana is the anticipation that it might happen today, and it might just as likely not, and really either way it’s not that big of a deal. The way you thought things would go just aren’t the way they end up. But the key to Mañana lies somewhere in the unspecified future. It holds the great promise of hope. The good news: eventually mañana arrives. The tomorrows of our dreams become the todays of our reality.

All of that is to say, we’re hard at work envisioning a big, beautiful tomorrow for El Cosmico. In the meantime – if you aren’t already subscribed to our mailing list, you can do that here and you’ll be the first to get word of the plan when we’re ready to share. And if questions come up before then, you can always reach out to us at info@elcosmico.com.

Thank you from the depths of our collective heart for being a part of this little experiment in freedom and fun we’ve been conducting out here under the big sky. As Yoko Ono said, “A dream you dream alone is only a dream, a dream you dream together is reality.” Thank you for dreaming with us, and please accept an open invitation to keep on dreaming into the future.

With love,

Team Cosmico
